TPE stands for Thermoplastic Elastomer — a modern, flexible material that feels like rubber but is processed like a plastic. It gives our runners a soft, grippy, non-slip backing without using latex or traditional rubber.

Care Instructions
TPE backing is latex-free and designed to be compatible with most vinyl floors. Because vinyl formulas and finishes differ, we recommend a quick spot test and these best practices:

• Place only on clean, dry floors; lift/air regularly.

• Avoid use on freshly installed/finished floors (wait 72 hours after install or refinishing).

• Do not use on floors treated with waxes, oil-based cleaners, or if underfloor heating is set to high.

• After beach/camping trips, wipe the backing and floor to remove salt/sand.
  If you’re unsure, add a thin vinyl-safe barrier pad. While we engineer for compatibility, we can’t guarantee against every floor chemistry or condition.

To minimise risk, follow our Use & Care and your floor manufacturer’s guidance, and test prior to prolonged use. Mats By Design is not liable for floor discolouration caused by finish chemistry, cleaners, trapped moisture, heat/UV, or improper use.
