We’re Kylie & Stuart — the team behind Mats By Design, proudly Australian-owned and family-run since 2011.

Mats By Design actually began because of our dogs. We have Border Collies and spent a lot of time travelling to dog shows, where we could never find a mat that was practical, durable and still looked better than the plain blue and green options or tarps everyone else seemed to have.

So we created our first paw print mat.

It was designed for dog show people like us — something tough enough for real life, easy to clean and pack away, but still a little more “pretty but practical”. Before long, other people started asking where they could get one too.

From there, Mats By Design grew beyond the dog world and into caravanning, camping and outdoor living. As we spent more time travelling ourselves, we realised the same thing applied to campsites and caravan setups. Most outdoor mats were practical, but they all looked the same.

We believed you shouldn’t have to choose between something that works well and something that looks good.

Since then, we’ve spent years designing products that are made for real life on the road — recycled plastic mats, privacy screens, runners and accessories that are lightweight, durable, easy to clean and designed to last. Every design starts with us, and every product is created with the same goal in mind: practical first, with enough style to make your setup feel like home.

Today, more than 20,000 Mats By Design mats have found their way into caravans, campsites, homes, horse floats and dog show setups across Australia. Along the way, we’ve been incredibly proud to see our products stocked by BCF as part of their national range — a huge milestone for our small family business.

But no matter how much we’ve grown, the reason behind Mats By Design hasn’t changed. We still design every product with the same goal we had from the very beginning: to create products that are practical, durable and just that little bit more beautiful than the ordinary.
